Every summer when strawberries are in season, I love to whip up a recipe of homemade strawberry lemonade. My husband enjoys tart lemonade and my sister in-law loves all things strawberry. Why not combine the two for a delicious, refreshing drink?

The only problem with many lemonade recipes is the high amount of processed sugar. On our homestead, we enjoy using less sugar to sweeten our drinks and desserts. Our favorite wholesome sugars to use are agave nectar, honey, sucanat and fruit juice. These choices allow us to focus on big flavor rather than sweetness while still keeping our sweet tooth satisfied.

This sugar free strawberry lemonade recipe is easy and quick to make. Strawberries, lemons and a sweetener is all you need. Learn how to make strawberry lemonade with blender at the bottom of this post!

Ingredients

Strawberries – Fresh berries work best for this recipe since they have the most flavor. However, if you don’t have any in your fridge, frozen strawberries can be used. One pint of berries gives the easy strawberry lemonade recipe tremendous flavor. Don’t forget to remove the stems and tops before blending.

Lemon Juice – You will need approximately 6 to 8 lemons for this recipe.

Sweetener – This sugar free strawberry lemonade recipe is naturally sweetened using either agave nectar or honey. No need to heat this recipe, the blender will dissolve the sweetener as it purees the ingredients together.

Water – I usually add about 6 cups of water but you can adjust the dilution amount depending on how sweet you like your strawberry lemonade.

How to Serve Strawberry Lemonade

After a long day on the homestead of pulling weeds, harvesting herbs or my husbands favorite chore of mowing the lawn (not!), coming into the kitchen to grab a refreshing glass of homemade lemonade is just what the body needs. I like to store the strawberry lemonade in a half gallon mason jar and serve it to my family in either my favorite Pioneer Woman glasses or a wide mouth canning jar. Being the artsy one in the family, I love adding a colored straw to the beverage for an extra special touch.

FAQ

Is Pink Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade the Same Thing?

No, they are not. Pink lemonade is basically regular lemonade with some food dye to turn it pink. Strawberry lemonade has a distinct strawberry taste and is colored and flavored using real fruit.

Can I Use Frozen Strawberries in Place of Fresh Strawberries?

Sure! Frozen strawberries generally aren’t quite as flavorful and juicy as fresh berries but they will still give the lemonade a terrific taste. Given they are frozen, they will provide a nice slushy texture to the drink. It is best to let the berries thaw slightly before tossing them into a blender.

What is the Best Tool to Juice Lemons?

There are a variety of citrus juicing tools available for purchase. I have had great success using a manual juicer that catches the seeds and some of the pulp in the sieve. I found mine at a local auction but most grocery stores offer juicers and there are plenty options online. In addition to the manual juicer, there are hand citrus squeezers and electric juicers as well.
