This recipe for homemade garlic bread isn’t just any average loaf. It’s a pull-apart garlic bread, which makes it perfect for sharing!

Buttery, moist and soft this garlic bread made with whole grains pairs well with so many dishes. On pizza night, I like to top the crust with homemade pizza sauce, pepperoni, veggies, freshly sliced mozzarella and a side of pull-apart garlic bread. Think of them as kind of like a snazzy breadstick. I also find they pair well with roasted chicken, pot roast, chili and beef stew.

Be warned, this recipe only makes one loaf. If you plan to take this recipe to a summer shindig or a church potluck, you may want to make a double batch to maintain the peace! These golden garlic rolls won’t last long!

Garlic Bread Made With Whole Grains

This easy homemade bread recipe, created with fresh ground flour is simply scrumptious. With every bite, you’ll taste garlic, flavorful herbs and real creamy butter. Perfect any occasion!

Makes: 1 loaf

Ingredients

Dough Recipe:

1 cup warm water
1/2 cup warm milk
1 tablespoon instant yeast
1 teaspoon honey
5 tablespoons butter, melted
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon vital wheat gluten, optional
1 egg
4 1/2 cups freshly milled hard wheat flour

Garlic Butter Recipe:

6 tablespoons butter
6 garlic cloves, grated
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

How to Make Garlic Bread

In a mixing bowl or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine the warm water, milk, butter, honey, salt, egg and vital wheat gluten, if using. Beat until combined. Add 2 1/2 cups of flour and mix until a wet batter forms. Add yeast and mix to combine.

Switch to using the dough hook and add the remaining 2 cups of flour. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes. Cover the bowl, place in a warm spot and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.

Towards the end of the first rise, you’ll need to make the garlic butter. Add the butter, grated garlic, salt and Italian seasoning into a saucepan over medium-low heat. Warm, stirring occasionally until the butter has melted.

Grease one 8 x 4-inch loaf pan. Divide dough into 16 equal pieces and form into a ball. Roll dough balls into garlic butter. Arrange 8 dough balls on the bottom of the bread pan. Repeat with the remaining dough balls. Brush any excess garlic butter over the top of the loaf. Cover the loaf and let rise for an another 45 minutes, until doubled in size.

Preheat oven to 350° F. Bake in oven for 33-35 minutes until golden brown. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Carefully remove loaf from pan and place onto cooling rack. Serve and enjoy!
